Insert

Also called a Reducer Insert, this type of fitting enables standard socket-weld fittings to be used for making any combination of pipe line reductions both quickly and economically.

There are two types of Inserts. Type 1 Inserts are forged and machined to accept different size pipes on either end, with the ring surrounding both pipes being the same thickness. Type 2 Inserts are the same as Type 1, but being shaped like a barrel. The ring surrounding the inserted pipe of smaller NPS will be thicker.

Inserts serve the same purpose as bushings, but are welded in place rather than threaded.

James Duva, Inc. supplies Inserts in forged pressure classes up to 9000#, in a complete range of Carbon Steel, Stainless and Alloy grades, and Non-ferrous metals certified to ASTM, ASME, and Military standards.
