James Duva supplies blind flanges in all material grades, specifications, and sizes. Blind flanges are solid disks ideal for testing the flow of gas or liquid through a pipe or vessel. This is just in the case that work repairs must be made on the line.
Similar to a regular flange, a blind flange has mounting holes around the perimeter and the gasket sealing rings are machined into the mating surface. Rather than having an opening for fluids to pass through, it is placed in between two open flanges to stop the flow.
Most blind pipe flanges have a raised face, flat face, or RTJ facing. When using a raised face, the standard height is 1/16″ for blind flanges under 400#. With blind pipe flanges of 400# and up, the standard blind pipe flange raised face height is 1/4″.
Blind pipe flanges are recommended for high-pressure applications and commonly used to seal the end of pressure vessel openings or piping systems. Because the maximum stresses in blind flanges are bending stresses at the center, they can handle high stress from bolt loading and internal pressure.
Blind flanges are often used in chemical, petroleum, marine, paper making, shipbuilding, metallurgy, boiler, electric, power, and natural gas.
A blind flange is one of the most common flanges in use and is necessary for many different projects and industries. For that reason, we offer a full range of sizes and materials to fit every application.
