Plug Valve

Plug valves are typically used to regulate the flow of a liquid or gas within a high-pressure system. In addition to controlling flow via throttling, plug valves can be used in on/off position or to divert or combine flow.

Plug valves are mechanically simple, utilizing cylindrical or conically tapered plugs that rotate inside the valve body. The plugs contain one or more hollow channels cut sideways through the plug, which allow fluid or gas to flow through the valve when open. This simple design means that Plug valves are often very economical.

Plug valves are a high-capacity valve that can be used for directional flow control, even in moderate vacuum systems, can efficiently handle gas and liquid fuel, can safely handle extreme temperature flow, and can be used to regulate the flow of liquids containing suspended solids, for example, slurries. They open and close easily, except in large dimensions where actuation may be required. Maintenance and repair can typically be done at the place of operation.

James Duva, Inc. offers a full line of Plug valves, in many material grades and pressure classes, with or without actuation, built by manufacturers you trust. Call us today.
