Threaded Flanges

Threaded, or Companion flanges, have a female NPT center for connection to a male NPT pipe end. Make the connection by simply screwing the threaded pipe into the Threaded flange.

The main advantage of using Threaded flanges is that they can be quickly attached without welding, although sometimes a weld is also used to permanently secure the connection after the pipe and flange are mated.
While available in most sizes and pressure ratings, Threaded flanges are used almost exclusively in smaller pipe sizes. This is because small size piping, low pressure and low-temperature applications, like water and air utility services, are less likely to put unmanageable stress on the threads which secure the connection between flange and pipe.

Threaded flanges are often required in explosive areas such gas plants, where the execution of welded connections could be dangerous. They’re also commonly used in low-pressure, low-temperature systems where a pipe size reduction is required.

The predominate flange matches the larger pipe size with a smaller NPT bore to secure the smaller OD pipe.

Not only does James Duva, Inc. supply Threaded flanges in a wide range of sizes, pressure ratings and grades, we also cut and thread pipe to suit your specific job requirements. Call us today for a comprehensive quote on your threaded piping project.
